A while back we blogged DonorsChoose.org - an online model for teachers to fundraise around classroom needs. Now I introduce you to the Generation Project - founded by one of Glassbooth’s very own alumni.
The Generation Project revolutionizes educational philanthropy. Their hook is that they give donors creative control over gifts to high-need K-12 students. Instead of just writing a check, donors design gifts based on their personal passions and priorities: A musician might donate a set of instruments to a high school band, a military veteran might sponsor an essay contest on freedom, or a scientist might sponsor a summer internship for a young person at a lab or hospital.

QUICK AMERICAN BAILOUT PLAN
Instead of bailing out $600 Billion to the mortgage companies and $700 Billion to AIG and the stock exchange, this alternative plan would bail everyone out and stimulate the whole economy. If doing so, the Obama administration would go down in history as the greatest and best president ever in the history of the world!!!!! in saving America and the world economy!!!
Dispurse the $1300 Billion by giving EVERY American over the age of twenty-one $500,000.00 (or however the billions break down) paying all their debt right off the top, i.e., paying off all unpaid student loans, all credit card debt, medical debt, mortgage and all loans. Of course the government would take the taxes out first prior to releasing any money. They can start with a clean slate or at least in a much better position Also, before any money is disbursed any and all loans and debts would be paid out of there share before it is disbursed. Thus with this plan, the government will get an immediate return, the banks will have immediate money to lend, the people will have money to spend, which will start an immediate reversal in our sad economy. The car makers will again be selling cars, stocks will rise, and once again we will have a booming and prosperous economy. This plan will be an immediate jumpstart that America and the world needs.
For those that are financially responsible may choose to deposit what’s left (or all) in the bank, pay off their house or invest into more homes, home improvements their businesses, go to school, fix their car or buy a new economic car (or one in better condition) for their wives or a family member, pay off their tax debt, go to the dentist, buy health insurance and have cosmetic surgery for the rich fugly ones.
Everyone would make out–the banks would have a lot of savings to bank, invest, the mortgage companies wouldn’t have to foreclose because they’ll get their money right off the top, cars wouldn’t be repo-ed but paid off and making more sales, the stores would be making sales,
The Obama administration would still have to create new jobs by dangling the $ carrot to the auto industry to manufacture environmentally consciencious (sp) cars in the US, and penalize companies that out-source labor. Tackeling joblessness similar to FDR, creating jobs in America, encouraging citizens to buy “Made in American”. Our gov’t. needs to “fix” the American economy and as a result it will help the economy of other countries.
Of course, this all would go along with Obama’s plan to cut the FAT (pork barrel spending and all the wastefulness within each department at every level) from the government and prosecuting guilty parties of white collar crimes passing out time to well deserved criminals sending the message that the fat cats’ day-in, day-out unscrupulous ways of doing business wasting taxpayers’ money will not be tolerated. It’s been run so wasteful for years. If people ran their businesses the way politicians run the gov’t., they’d have all been shut down a long time ago.
Bailing out the financial institutions isn’t the answer, as they’ve repeatedly proven. This plan would be more rapid to stimulate the economy and be immediate aid for ALL families, from the homeless all the way to the financial institutions.
The news reported (?) that your administration plans to do what is best for the masses. So much damage was done out of pure filthy greed. We think that this plan will give the economy a great jump start. Please review this plan with your cabinet. Corporate America has already shown us repeatedly how the C.E.O.’s benefit greatly with bailout’s. The airline industry is ready for another bailout. That’s their version of “recycling”. Was it Abe Lincoln that said, “If we fail to learn from history, we’re destine to repeat the course”?
