Dan Kapanke was born in La Crosse on August 21, 1947. After graduation from Onalaska Lutheran High School in 1965, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve for five years and the Wisconsin National Guard for two, he returned to La Crosse to receive his Bachelors degree in Political Science and Masters of Education in Professional Development from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. In 2004, Dan was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2004, representing the 32nd Senate District. He lives in La Crosse with his wife and four children.
