Mike was born in Milwaukee, July 19, 1964 and has been a resident of La Crosse County for the last 38 years. He graduated from Onalaska High School and left the area briefly to attend Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and work as a legislative aide in Madison. He returned to Onalaska in 1990, and was a member of the La Crosse County Board from 1992 to 1995. He was elected to Assembly in 1994, elected Speaker of the Assembly in 2007 and Majority Leader in 2005.
